There has been a change in the 14-man roster of the Brazilian women’s volleyball team. Ana Cristina and Gabriela Guimaraes (Gabi) are excluded.

According to the official website of the 2023 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Nations League (VNL), Ana Cristina and Gabi were excluded from the list for the second week in Brazil. Initially, on the 10th, the Brazilian Volleyball Association 메이저놀이터(CBV) announced that the two players would join in the second week of the competition, but were forced to leave due to sudden injuries.

Outside hitter Ana Cristina, born in 2004, suffered an injury to her right knee during her 13th day of training. He was the team’s top scorer in Week 1 of this VNL, with a total of 78 points. He was also named seventh overall in scoring in the tournament. Ana Cristina, who had an onslaught, was left disappointed with an injury.

The Brazilian national team captain and world-class outside hitter, Gabi, was planning to join from the second week of the VNL this year as well as last year. However, he felt discomfort in his left knee while playing the 2023 European Volleyball Federation (CEV) Champions League match for Turkiye Vakif Bank, and decided to rest to avoid further injury.

Meanwhile, Brazil met China (2-3 loss), Netherlands (3-0 win), Dominican Republic (3-1 win) and Croatia (3-0 win) in the first week and recorded 3 wins and 1 loss (10 points), placed 5th in the competition. In the second week, which will be held in the living room, they will face off against Korea, Serbia, Germany, and the United States.

Two players were suddenly excluded from the roster, but there are also welcome faces. Veteran middle blocker Taissa Menezes, who was a member of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics, returns to the national team after a long absence. Even before his return, attention is focused.
