The Gyeongbuk National Police Agency said on July 7 that it has applied for an arrest warrant for Ahn Hae-wook, 74, who made the so-called토토사이트 “Julie allegations” against Kim Gun-hee, the wife of President Yoon Seok-yul.

Ahn is suspected of spreading false claims that Mrs. Kim worked at a sex shop in the past, a violation of the Information and Communications Network Act. He was accused by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in January of last year for saying he “became Julie’s partner and received entertainment.” The police referred the case to the Gyeongbuk National Police Agency because Ahn’s residence is in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province.

Ahn and six others, including the head of the YouTube outlet Citizen Media The Explorers (formerly Open Public Television), who raised the “Julie Suspicion,” were sent to prison on March 22 on charges of violating the Information and Communications Network Act.

In December 2021, during the presidential election, the outlet published an interview with Ahn, who claimed that Kim had worked in a sex shop under the name “Julie” in 1997.

Police began the investigation after receiving more than a dozen complaints from the People’s Power Legal Support Group and the legal team of presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol’s campaign. Six of the cases, which involved alleged violations of the Public Offices Election Act, were handed over to prosecutors in September last year, while the remaining cases, which involved alleged violations of the Information and Communications Network Act, were handed over to prosecutors this month.

“We applied for an arrest warrant after confirming that many of Ahn’s claims were false,” a police official said, adding, “We cannot confirm the details.”
