American track and field athlete Tori Bowie, who won three Olympic gold medals, passed away unexpectedly. She is 33 years old.
Foreign media including the Associated Press reported the news of Bowie’s death all at once on the 4th (Korean time). The media said, “Bowie was found dead on the 3rd at her home in Orlando, Florida. “No one has contacted Bowie in recent days,” she said. “There is no known sign of her being killed.”
Bowie is an American track and field star who has won multiple medals on the world stage. Bowie made her headlines when she finished third in the women’s 100m at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing. The following year, at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, she placed second in the 100 m, third in the 200 m, and first in the 400 m relay, winning her three medals, making her an ‘Olympic triple crown’. At the 2017 World Championships 먹튀검증in London, she won the women’s 100 m.
At the 2019 World Championships in Doha, she competed in the long jump, where she placed fourth, but her participation began to decline later that year due to her poor performance. In 2021, she did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, and since June 2022 she has not competed at all.
The American Track and Field Federation said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tori Bowie.”
Her current top sprinter and fellow Olympic champion Shelley Ann Fraser-Price also tweeted: “Tori Bowie was a great competitor for her. His energy and smile will always be with her,” she conveyed her condolences to the bereaved family.
Bowie spent his childhood in Sandhill, Mississippi, a town with a population of less than 100. Showing talent in athletics from an early age, Bowie emerged as a promising star early on, securing state titles in the 100m, 200m and long jump events. Even after he went to college with an athletic scholarship, he steadily improved and won the national title in indoor and outdoor long jump in 2011.
Craig Poole, who coached Bowie, told the Associated Press, “Bowie was a very passionate and sparkling personality. It was a real pleasure to work with,” he recalled.
