A former Chicago Cubs minor leaguer is facing murder charges.

Alcantara signed with the Cubs in January 2022 for a $500,000 ($660,000) bonus. He played 40 games in the Rookie League last year, batting .136 (16-for-118) with two home runs, 10 RBIs and 21 stolen bases.
