Typhoon No. 2, Mawar, is moving northward. It is expected to be a strong typhoon at the level of ‘Hinamno’, which caused great damage to Korea last year, and attention is focused on whether it will make landfall on the Korean Peninsula.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, as of 10 a.m. today 메이저사이트(April 22), Typhoon Mawar is passing through the sea about 600 kilometers southeast of Guam. It is then expected to head south of Okinawa, Japan.
If it continues northwest, it will most likely head toward the Philippines and China, but the typhoon’s path is fluid, so we’ll have to wait and see.
This typhoon is expected to be similar in strength to last year’s Hinamno. Currently, the typhoon’s strength is ‘strong’ and is expected to increase to ‘very strong’.
A ‘very strong’ typhoon is when the maximum sustained winds are less than 44 meters per second (m/s) to 54 m/s. This is enough to blow people and large boulders around. Hinamno was also a ‘very strong’ typhoon with winds of up to 50 meters per second.
The Japan Meteorological Agency will continue to monitor the typhoon’s path and issue updates.
